Our New Apartment
Well, now, look at that – we just signed the lease for a real apartment! As opposed to the managed, corporate-type housing we occupy at the moment.
It’s an unfurnished, 60 square meter Or 645 square feet. While absolutely tiny by U.S. standards, It’s not too bad for Paris (and 10m2 larger than the apartment we are in now). 2 bedroom, 1 bath. With a separate toilet. Welcome to France. Facing the interior courtyard, with a balcony. It is in the 6th arrondissement, a stone’s throw from the Jardin du Luxembourg. Yay us!
There’s absolutely no “French Charm” here at all - the building is only 50 years old, Gotta love Euro apartments, where a 50-year-old building is laughed at for being called ‘old’ by its neighbor that was constructed in the 17th century. But I digress… and definitely cookie-cutter.
But unlike many of its charming neighbors, this apartment was renovated two years ago, and thus it has an essentially brand-new modern kitchen and windows with an actual R value.
More to come. Here are pictures of the apartment from the listing:
